Brownwood ISD issued the following press release Wednesday morning:
In order to maintain a safe environment for our children to study and learn, it is necessary that the Brownwood Independent School District (BISD) practice emergency response plans by holding drills designed to exercise our procedures.
Starting Monday, September 23, through Friday, September 27, BISD will be conducting campus evacuation drills for every campus within the district.
During the Evacuation Drill, students will be safely escorted along a designated evacuation route to a pre-determined evacuation site. At the conclusion of the drill, all students will be escorted back to the school. Staff may be seen wearing safety vests in the neighborhoods around the campus, as well as a few emergency vehicles and first responders.
After school pick-up and transportation procedures for students will not be affected by these drills.
Practices for various state-mandated emergency drills are completed several times a year. The safety and welfare of students and staff remain a top priority at BISD.
