COLORADO CITY – The Brownwood Lady Lions will carry a two-match win streak into Friday’s pre-district finale following a 25-22, 25-19, 27-25 straight-set triumph over Colorado City Tuesday night.
The Lady Lions (13-12) – who were originally slated to host Granbury NCTA Tuesday, but that match was canceled – have already won more games in 2024 than the 2022 and 2023 seasons combined (11).
In Tuesday’s win, the offense was sparked by Aubrie Felux with nine kills, Aniah Hines and Miranda Northcutt with five apiece, Hannah Deen and Icess Hall with two each, and Jentry Coalson, Inyah Hall and Trinity Roberts each with one.
Icess Hall distributed 10 assists along with four each from Hines and Coalson and one by Maddi Scott.
Felux served three aces while Hines, Deen and Scott chipped in two apiece and Icess Hall added one.
On defense, Laine Johnson logged six digs trailed by five apiece from Felux and Sara Stubblefield, four each from Hines, Deen, and Icess Hall, two apiece from Scott and Demayha Hooker, and one each from Coalson, Roberts, Inylah Hall, Peyton Pena and Jakayla Peek.
At the net, Hines tallied six blocks followed by Northcutt with three and Felux with one.
The Lady Lions wrap up the pre-district portion of their schedule at 5 p.m. Friday when they host Abilene Cooper, then venture to Brock Friday, Sept. 27 to open District 6-4A volleyball action.
