Zephyr 51, Gorman 20
GORMAN – The Zephyr Bulldogs remained undefeated on the season with a 51-20 road victory over the Gorman Panthers Friday night.
Zephyr (3-0) finished with 382 yards – 222 passing and 160 rushing – while allowing Gorman (1-2) to muster 191 yards – 117 on the ground and 74 through the air. Neither team had a turnover.
Wyatt Stevens completed 9 of 10 passes for 222 yards and five touchdowns, as Reese Hamm caught three passes – all touchdowns – totaling 134 yards. CJ Byers added three grabs for 34 yards, Corben Gosnell hauled in a 29-yard scoring reception, and Ethan Byers scored on a 2-yard toss.
Chayden Woodcock paced the ground game with 106 yards and two rushing scores, and he also caught a 23-yard pass. CJ Byers tacked on 45 yards on the ground and Stevens added 18.
Defensively, Woodcock’s 13 tackles were a team-high followed by Stevens with 10, Gosnell with nine, Hamm and Trapper Schoenhals with eight each, and Johnny Paul Evans-Rollins with seven takedowns.
Next week, the Bulldogs host Lingleville (0-2), which suffered a 48-0 loss to Kopperl Friday night.

Blanket 54, Evant 0
BLANKET – The Blanket Tigers are still unbeaten and have not allowed a point in their two full games as they posted a 54-0 victory over the Evant Elks Friday night.
The Tigers (2-0) finished with 231 yards of total offense – 187 rushing and 44 passing – and also scored on special teams against Evant (0-3).
Cameron Aultman anchored the ground game with 130 rushing yards and four touchdowns while Kannon Kensing chipped in 57 yards on the ground with a trip to the end zone.
Dallas Shumaker completed 3 of 5 passes for 44 yards with a 22-yard scoring strike to Kade Russell. Shumaker also returned a kick 64 yards for a touchdown, and tossed a pair of completions to Mason Beck covering 22 yards.
Defensively, Beck led the way with 10 tackles followed by Kensing with six tackles and a fumble recovery, Aultman with five tackles, and Brian Shannon with four tackles and a pair of fumble recoveries
Next week, the Tigers visit Santa Anna (2-1), which is coming off a 69-24 victory over Ranger.

Brookesmith 55, Moran 6
MORAN – The Brookesmith Mustangs notched their most impressive victory of the young season, routing the Moran Bulldogs, 55-6, Friday night.
Adyn Ribble carried the ball six times and scored six touchdowns for Brookesmith (2-1), amassing 242 yards on the ground in the process against the Moran (1-2) defense.
Vegas Gilliam completed all three of his pass attempts for 80 yards with a touchdown of 35 yards to Derrick Beard. Gilliam also returned a kick 51 yards for a touchdown.
Addison Heard rushed for a 50-yard touchdown and returned a kick 73 yards for six points.
Defensively for Brookesmith, Beard led way with nine tackles trailed by Ribble with eight, and Gilliam with six and an interception.
Next week, the Mustangs have a bye and return to action Sept. 27 at Gustine (2-0).

Comanche 36, Eastland 14
EASTLAND – The Comanche Indians notched their second straight victory and knocked the Eastland Mavericks from the ranks of the unbeaten, 36-14, here Friday night.
Comanche (2-1) generated 399 yards of total offense – 222 on the ground and 177 through the air – against the Eastland (2-0) defense.
Quarterback Cayden Davis completed 8 of 16 passes for 177 yards with four scoring tosses and added 53 yards on the ground.
CT Buford caught four passes for 115 yards and scored twice, Chance Boswell finished with two receptions for 20 yards and a trip to the end zone, and Manuel Ortiz hauled in a 20-yard touchdown catch.
On the ground, Ladanian Smith led the charge with 140 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, Zaden Tello recorded 11 tackles, including four sacks, while Alex Terrell also tallied 11 tackle and recovered a fumble. Junior Gomez and JJ Davis also finished the game with 11 tackles
Next week, the Indians head to Tolar (2-1), which is coming off a 36-20 victory over Millsap Friday.

San Saba 20, Goldthwaite 12
SAN SABA – In the 107th “Battle of the River,” the host San Saba Armadillos held off the Goldthwaite Eagles for a 20-12 non-district victory Friday night.
San Saba (2-1) manufactured 302 yards of total offense – 192 rushing and 110 passing – against the Goldthwaite (1-2) defense.
Quarterback Luke Tharp again led the ‘Dillo charge with 185 yards and two touchdowns rushing, while completing 10 of 15 passes for 110 yards and another score.
Kaylub Roberts hauled in a 34-yard touchdown reception for San Saba, while Trace Temples led the way with three grabs for 32 yards and Skylar Romero chipped in an 18-yard catch.
Defensively for San Saba, Jason Everett led the way with 14 tackles followed by 11 from Sterling Proffitt and 10 from Levi Glover, who recovered a fumble. Cash Bryant added an interception and three tackles.
Next week, the Armadillos head to Waco Reicher (0-3), which fell to Rio Vista, 62-0, Friday, while the Eagles have the week off before starting District 10-2A Division II Sept. 27 against Chilton (1-2), which lost to Marlin, 46-0, Friday night.

Richland Springs 57, Nueces Canyon 0
BARKSDALE – The Class A Division II No. 2 Richland Springs Coyote kept their unblemished mark intact as they cruised to a 57-0 victory over Nueces Canyon Friday night in their first road game of the season.
Richland Springs (3-0) produced 223 yards of total offense – 181 on the ground and 42 through the air – against the Nueces Canyon (0-3) defense.
Cohen Ethridge rushed for 68 yards and two scores, Billy Perry tacked on 62 yards and a touchdown, and Gage Behrens tallied 21 yards and scored twice.
Through the air, Perry completed 2 of 5 passes for 42 yards with a 39-yard touchdown to Hutton Rogers.
Defensively, the Coyotes scored on a 57-yard fumble return by Behrens and a 37-yard interception return by EJ Aviles.
Ethridge finished with a team-high 11 tackles followed by six from Perry and five apiece from Behrens, Aviles, and Jim Eckermann.
Next week, the Coyotes make the long drive to Burkeville (1-1), which had a bye Friday night.

Santa Anna 69, Ranger 24 (Thursday)
RANGER – The Santa Anna Mountaineers rebounded from their first loss of the season with a 69-24 road victory over the Ranger Bulldogs Thursday night.
Santa Anna (2-1) rushed for 441 of its 447 yards of total offense, led by William Perry with 360 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground, covering 46, 62, 51, 36, 27, 46 and 29 yards.
Wyatt Strickland chipped in 75 rushing yards and scored twice on carries of 3 and 10 yards.
Jayden Gibson added 6 yards on the ground and caught a 4-yard pass from Brown.
Defensively against Ranger (0-3), Santa Anna was led by Brown with 19 tackles, including two for loss; 14 by Perry, with four for loss; and 10 by Strickland, who also recovered three fumbles and returned one 29 yards for a touchdowns, while a picking off a pass as well.
Next week, the Mountaineers play host to Blanket (2-0), which blanked Evant, 54-0, Friday night.

Hico 42, Cross Plains 14
HICO – The Cross Plains Buffaloes were dealt their first defeat of 2024, while the Hico Tigers notched a season-opening third straight win in a 42-14 decision Friday night.
Cross Plains (2-1) fell behind Hico (3-0) by a 6-0 count in the first quarter, trailed 28-7 at halftime and faced a 42-7 deficit after three quarters.
The Buffaloes were held to 248 yards – 133 rushing and 115 passing – while surrendering 439 yards, including 364 on the ground.
Kade Purvis completed 9 of 15 passes for Cross Plains as Gray Albrecht led the receiving corps with three grabs for 59 yards and a touchdown. Kevin Hopkins anchored the ground game with 59 yards followed by Purvis with 37. Ryder Reed caught two passes for 24 yards, while Rylen Reed added a 26-yard reception.
On defense for Cross Plains, Bryson Barron finished with 11 tackles and one for loss, trailed by Colt Sanderson with 10 tackles and one behind the line of scrimmage, Jessey Bradford with nine, Albrecht and Cullen Ellis with eight each, Purvis and Tyler Mackey with seven apiece, and Colter Wedeking with six tackles.
Next week, the Buffaloes will compete in a neutral site contest in Snyder against Tahoka (2-1), which upended Colorado City, 48-19, Friday night.

Mason 53, Coleman 6
MASON – The Coleman Bluecats dropped their third consecutive contest to open the 2024 football campaign Friday night, suffering a 53-6 road loss to the Mason Punchers.
Coleman (0-3) was limited to just 218 yards – 182 passing and 36 rushing – while Mason (2-1) generated 375 yards – 218 on the ground and 157 through the air.
The Bluecats trailed 19-0 after one quarter, 33-6 at halftime and all the scoring was completed in the third quarter.
Brayden Torres completed 9 of 26 passes for Coleman for 182 yards as Kelan Sikes hauled in a 71-yard scoring reception and Braylon Stewart led the team with three grabs for 44 yards. Paul Salas was the top rusher for the Bluecats with 20 yards on six carries.
Defensively for Coleman, Easton Meador tallied a team-high six tackles followed by five each from Salas, Brooks Clippinger and Micah Lackey.
Next week, the Bluecats will host Cisco (2-1), which is coming off a 30-20 triumph over Breckenridge.
