MILLSAP – The Early Lady Horns owned the advantage after the first and third sets, but couldn’t hold on for a victory as Millsap rallied for a five-set triumph 22-25, 25-10, 20-25, 25-9, 15-10, in the District 8-3A volleyball opener for both teams Friday.
Early (11-11, 0-1) was led offensively by Tyley Simmons with seven kills, Ellie Shea with five, Jensyn Rasor and Aubrie DeVillier with three each, Cassidy Frerichs with two and Karley Smith and Grey Pruett with one kill apiece.
Pruett distributed 13 assists followed by Frerichs with five and Simmons with one.
Simmons and Gabby Benson both served an ace.
Defensively, Benson recorded 31 digs trailed by Aliyah Harlan with 18, DeVillier with 17, Frerichs and Pruett with 13 apiece, Simmons with eight, Smith with six and Rasor with three.
At the net, Simmons logged seven blocks followed by Shea with five, Rasor with four, Smith with two and Pruett with one.
The Lady Horns are back in action at 6 p.m. Tuesday when they play their district home opener against Peaster.
