Brown County will hold a joint public meeting on Thursday, August 29, 2024, to gather public input for updating their Hazard Mitigation Plan. The plan will include Brown County, and the cities of: Bangs, Blanket, Brownwood and Early.
This meeting will be held at 10 a.m. at the Brownwood Depot and Cultural Center located at 600 E. Depot Street. Brownwood Texas,76801 Street. The public is invited and encouraged to attend the meeting.
The purpose of the public meeting is to provide a project overview from the Emergency Managers of Brown County, City of Bangs, City of Blanket, City of Brownwood and the City of Early. Public input will help the project team to analyze potential hazards affecting residents and recommend possible actions to reduce their impact. Hazards included are thunderstorm wind, tornado, winter storm, hail, flood, drought, wildfire, extreme heat and lightning.

The deadline to complete the Public Survey is October 1, 2024.
The goal of the Hazard Mitigation Plan is to minimize or eliminate the long-term risk to human life and property from known hazards by identifying and implementing cost-effective mitigation actions. Mitigation is defined by the Federal Emergency Management Agency as sustained actions taken to reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people and property from hazards and their effects.
