At today’s meeting of the Brown County Commissioners Court, a date was set for the public hearing on the 2024-2025 County budget. For the last several weeks the Commissioners have been holding budget workshop meetings, including today. The proposed new budget will soon be set and the Commissioners scheduled a public hearing on the budget for September 9. Also on September 9 will be a public hearing for the ad valorum tax rate for the new fiscal year.
Also today the Commissioners heard a request for approval of a grant application for feral hog traps. Jule Richmon said that Farm Bureau will apply for a grant of $20,000 from Texas Wildlife Services to purchase six “Pig Brig” traps. If approved the grant money will be sent to Brown County, which will then re-imburse Farm Bureau for the cost of the traps. Farm Bureau will be responsible for the placement and use of the traps.
Commissioners took no action on a burn ban, leaving the current burn ban in place.
