TUSCOLA – The Brownwood Lady Lions captured the team championship, and Sidney Windham finished first overall with a personal best time of 12:22.18 at the Jim Ned Warpath Invitational cross country meet Saturday morning.
The Lady Lions produced 71 points, just ahead of runner-up Goldthwaite with 77.
Along with Windham’s effort, Kate Tindol placed 12th (13:06.52) for Brownwood, Kylea Karnes was 14th (13:11.12), Talia Craff was 18th (13:29.71), Haylee Adkins was 26th (14:13.93), Braycee Lee was 34th (14:27.43), and Khloe Galvan was 36th (14:31.59).
Goldthwaite’s performance was led by Payten McGee (5th, 12:43.4), Emily Bartek (6th, 12:49.34), Rylie Hillis (13th, 13:10.21), Natalie Wood (22nd, 13:57.59), Addisyn Howard (33rd, 14:19.72), Jacey Jernigan (59th, 15:25.78), and Kenley Howard (65th, 15:35.49).
On the boys side, the Brownwood Lions finished seventh in the varsity team standings with 197 points, just behind sixth-place Zephyr with 148.
Aidan Pena was the top Lion finisher in 40th place (20:08.75) trailed by Noah Lambert (42nd 20:23.05), Hayden Mair (45th, 20:25.53), Ross Strasner (66th, 21:13.72), Stephen Rodriguez (21:25.53), Jose Rodriguez (74th, 21:38.25), Gio Diaz (22:41.09), and Kayden Hernandez (23:23.69).
For Zephyr, Eli Williams came in sixth (17:45.24) trailed by Aaron Fagan (15th, 19:14.25), Spencer Marwitz (19th, 19:26.47), Reese Hamm (60th, 21:04.96) and Cash Whisenhunt (109th, 23:37.28).
The JV Lady Lions also placed first as a team, while the JV Lions came in fourth.
Competing for the JV Lady Lions were Rebekkah Delgado (2nd, 14:29.18), Joclyn Salazar (3rd. 14:31.09), Alena Bernal (8th, 15:21.87), Montanna Ramsey (10th, 15:39.12), Karissa Raines (15th, 16:06.5), Autumn Reeves (20th, 16:26.59), Kiara Delce (28th, 17:20.97), Natalie Dillard (32nd, 17:25.24), Maddie Hampton (33rd, 17:32.15), Kylie Arocha (40th, 17:51.96), Izzie Mendez (57th, 19:15.62) and Jazzmyn Sanchez (21:51.78)
Running for the JV Lions were Bryce Booth (12th, 22:11.18), Carter Massey (27th, 24:09.62), EJ Stanfield (28th, 24:26.06), Brayden Musick (35th, 25:14.23), and Alejandro Gomez (36th, 25:19.03)
