At today’s meeting of the Board of Directors of the Brown County Water Improvement District, approval was given to a fireworks permit for Wild Duck Marina. Wild Duck sponsors an Independence Day fireworks show at Lake Brownwood every year, but this year’s show, scheduled for July 6, was cancelled due to bad weather. Wild Duck has re-scheduled the show for Saturday, August 31.
The Board also approved an adjustment to the District’s contract with Zephyr Water Supply, increasing the amount of water that can be purchased to 285,000,000 gallons, up from the current 185,000,000.
District General Manager John Allen reported that Lake Brownwood is currently at 1,421 feet, which is 3.9-feet below full, representing 82% capacity. One year ago the lake was at 67% of capacity. The statewide average is currently 76% capacity.
