James Marvin Glasscock, Jr., of Zephyr, Texas, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, August 12, 2024, in Brownwood, Texas, following a 9-month illness.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Early Church of Christ, with James M. Glasscock III officiating. Burial will take place at Lawn Haven Cemetery in San Angelo at a later date.

James Marvin Glasscock, Jr. was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to James Marvin Glasscock and Floy Othell Lowe Glasscock on September 17, 1948. Due to his father’s role as superintendent of schools throughout Texas, Jim attended numerous schools during his early years. He graduated from San Angelo Central High School with the class of 1967. Jim earned his bachelor’s degree from Abilene Christian College and later completed his master’s degree at Tarleton State University.
Jim married Teresa Balkum Taff on Saturday, November 28, 1998, at Austin Avenue Church of Christ in Brownwood, Texas, after a long courtship. On their wedding day, they asked the Lord for at least 25 years together, a blessing He granted.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 25 years, Teresa Glasscock, of Zephyr, Texas. He is also survived by his children: Jackie Crawford (Ken) of Mesa, Arizona; James M. Glasscock III (Tanya) of Early, Texas; LaDonna Holder (Paul) of San Angelo, Texas; Roy Glasscock (Catie) of Trenton, Texas; John Glasscock (Becky) of Zephyr, Texas; Rusty Glasscock (Rae) of Brownwood, Texas; Amanda Glasscock Greene (Brian) of Kansas City, Missouri; Cody Glasscock (Maureen) of Canyon Lake, Texas; Tonya Kistner (Stephen) of Eureka, Missouri; and Vanessa Taff, Jim’s bonus daughter, of Lubbock, Texas. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, his forever daughter-in-law Shamey Yancey (Scotty) of Santa Anna, Texas, his brother-in-law Sam Balkum of Warren, Texas, and his niece Katelyn Balkum of San Antonio, Texas.
The family wishes to honor six special men as honorary pallbearers: Lynn Meyers, Charlie Walters, James Scott, Billy Taylor, Britt Stanke, and Bob Clark.
The Glasscock family extends their sincere thanks to Dr. Narendra L. Nagalye, Dr. Jenny Curry, and Dr. Erick Walker for their compassionate care over the past 8 months. To the staff of Pecan Bayou Nursing and Rehab, who became like a second family to Jim, your kindness and care are deeply appreciated. A special thank you to the staff members who worked closely with Jim: Chandra Sikes, Ronelle Bruaw, Jalissa Crowder, Betty Marshall, Dennis Hall (Chaplain), Shannon McAllister (Social Worker), and the entire Gentiva Hospice family.
