The Heartland Association of REALTORS issued the following press release Wednesday morning:

Brownwood’s Got Talent show, an exciting event hosted by the Heartland Association of REALTORS® in partnership with The Lyric Theater, will take place Nov. 16. This spectacular show aims to benefit the remodel of the Bennie Houston Recreation Center, a vital community institution that provides important public space and is dedicated to preserving and celebrating our local history.

Bennie Will Houston was a pivotal figure in Brownwood, Texas, who dedicated his life to community service. Born in 1915 and raised in segregation, he overcame adversity to become a beloved leader. Houston organized youth sports, served as a USO Athletic Director during World War II, and founded HOTIC (Help Our Town Improvement Club) to promote racial harmony. His crowning achievement was becoming the first black City Council member, breaking barriers and representing his community. Houston’s legacy of civic engagement, leadership, and commitment to unity lives on through the Bennie Houston Center.

The fundraising goal for Brownwood’s Got Talent is $25,000, and we are confident in achieving this with the support of our community. Eric Evans, our partner at The Lyric Theater, shares our optimism and believes this goal is well within reach. Auditions for the Talent Show are being held on August 17th and are open to ALL members of our community – whether you’re from Brownwood, Early, Comanche, Coleman, May, Goldthwaite or anywhere in between – we want YOU to be a part of this amazing event. Sign-up applications and more information can be found at www.heartland-realtors.com. If you’re more of a judge than a performer, you can also purchase tickets to watch the auditions live for just $5!

If you want to support this community endeavor, we are accepting donations and sponsorships. Donations can be for any amount and Sponsorship Levels are as follows:

● $5,000 – 10 tickets to Brownwood’s Got Talent, swag bag, company logo on tickets and 15 seconds screen time before each event, and a pre-show meet and greet.

● $1,000 – 8 tickets to Brownwood’s Got Talent, swag bag, company logo on tickets and 10 seconds screen time before each event, and a pre-show meet and greet.
