The 10u Bombers Sheffield came home with the gold at the USA Southern B 10 and under Nationals this weekend. They ended their spring/summer season playing their best ball of the season.
There were so many great plays, hits, bunts, pitches, chants, and base running all weekend. It was an awesome weekend of winning and watching the girls play with so much hustle and heart.
Taylin Slone pitched 13 innings on the weekend and had 27 strikeouts. She only allowed 4 hits and only one earned run and brought heat all weekend. Camdyn Nelson pitched 10 innings with 21 strikeouts. She gave up 3 hits and only 2 earned runs. Camdyn did a great job of mixing and moving the ball. Gentry McMillian pitched 2 innings and had 4 strikeouts. Scout Sheffield pitched 3 innings and had 9 strikeouts! The pitchers combined for a .095 ERA.
At the plate, Scout Sheffield led the way with a .667 average. She had 10 hits and scored a team high 15 runs. She tied for the most plate appearances with 23 and didn’t strikeout once. Scout also stole 11 bases. Next, was Taylin Slone who hit .625 with 5 hits and 5 walks. Gentry McMillian hit .619, with a team high 13 hits and she scored 12 runs, and had a team high 13 RBI’s. Leila Wyatt hit .600 on the weekend, with 6 hits. Giselle Olivas hit .571, with 4 hits. Bailey Huff and Fynlee both hit .500 as well. They combined for 16 hits and 16 RBI’s. Kennedy Constancio was SOLID in the leadoff spot all weekend hitting .421. Kennedy had 8 hits and 4 of those were triples! Camdyn Nelson and Hannah Armstrong hit .400 on the weekend as well.
Defensive stops by our middle infielders Taylor Dunn and Scout Sheffield were BIG! Leila Wyatt had some throw downs that were on point and she did a great job of holding runners in check.
Aubree Collins, Hannah Armstrong, and Lyla Worley were great assets on the bases and making teams have to work extra hard against their speed. Audrey Stewart and Peyton Head did a great job lifting their teammates up by playing the field wherever was needed and stepping to the plate when needed to continue the team’s momentum.
Day 1 of the was no problem for the Bombers. The next two days, they faced some great pitching and they were barreling the ball up and making big things happen. Then, they would follow their bats with great defensive stops.
Congrats 10u Bombers Sheffield on winning the USA Southern National Championship!
