According to the USGS website, a magnitude 5.0 earthquake occurred at 9:28 a.m. Friday just over 8 miles northeast of Hermleigh, near Snyder. Just 12 minutes later, a 3.2 magnitude earthquake followed just under 10 miles north of Hermleigh.
According to social media, the earthquake was felt across parts of West, Central, and North Texas, including Brown County.
On Monday night, a 4.9 magnitude earthquake took place in the same area, and at the time was the most intense activity registered that far north in the state of Texas since 1925. It was also the eighth-most intense earthquake on record for the state of Texas.
