BROWNWOOD – July 19, 2024 – This week, Howard Payne University hosted the Summer and Young Scholars programs for children entering grades K-6. This year’s theme was “Nature Explorers.” The students engaged in a rotation of classes that ranged from art to ecology.
Dr. Julie Welker, professor of communication and department chair, expressed her appreciation for everyone involved in making this year’s Summer and Young Scholars a success.
“This year’s Summer and Young Scholars was outstanding,” said Dr. Welker. “Our teachers went above and beyond to provide the students with an exceptional week of learning. We are thankful to our two guest speakers – Cameron Martin, wildlife biologist/Muse Wildlife Management Area with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and Braston Gray with Andy’s Pest Troopers – for doing presentations for our students this week. Cameron presented his TPWD skins and skulls program, and Braston shared his reptile program. We appreciate these men stepping in and helping!”
Students make paper chains about the life cycle.
