Today was the first day of a new program at Greenleaf Cemetery called “Weed-Eat Wednesdays.” Greenleaf is operated by a non-profit organization called the Greenleaf Cemetery Association. The organization has been facing financial challenges recently which have necessitated a reduction in staff, and that has resulted in falling behind schedule on maintenance of the cemetery grounds.
“Weed-Eat Wednesdays” asks for volunteers to bring their own weed trimmers on Wednesdays and help trim the grass and weeds. Today several volunteers came and donated their time to help with the chores. As an incentive, two hours of labor will qualify the volunteers for an “Eats & Drinks” coupon, donated by the following local businesses:
Fuzzy’s Taco Shop; Pioneer Tap House; Grazed and Confused; The Turtle; Tr3s Leches Bakery; Steves’ Market and Deli. (The coupons provided by ASAP Creative Arts.)
The Weed-Eat Wednesdays program will run through October. For more information, call Shane Agan at Greenleaf Cemetery at 325-646-6919.
