Fly your flag! Today is “Flag Day” in the United States.
In 1916 President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation establishing June 14 as Flag Day. The proclamation recognized the original adoption of the design for our flag by the Second Continental Congress on June 14, 1777. That resolution stated “That the flag of the thirteen United States be thirteen stripes, alternating red and white, that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.”
June 14 is also the birthday of the U.S. Army. The Continental Congress adopted the American Continental Army on June 14, 1775.
So fly your flag proudly today, and also soon on Independence Day, July 4.
