David ‘Doc’ Reid (left) in the Precinct 3 County Commissioner race and Mitchell Jacobson in the Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace race had the most votes when polls closed Tuesday night.

The votes in the May 28 Republican Primary runoff elections for Brown County Precinct 3 Commissioner and Brown County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace will be canvassed June 10, and Brown County Elections Administrator Brenda Arp is reminding the public that provisional and mail-in ballots postmarked no later than May 28 will be added to the current tallies.

Arp stated the mail-in and provisional ballots will be opened and counted at 2 p.m. Monday, June 3 at the Brown County Elections Office, then during the Brown County Commissioners Court meeting at 9 a.m. Monday, June 10 the canvass will be released, certifying the winners of each election.

Election Night results in the race for Precinct 3 Commissioner saw candidate David ‘Doc’ Reid garner 344 votes to the 342 for incumbent Wayne Shaw. Due to the closeness of this race – and the fact that 686 people voted for Commissioner compared to 335 voted for Justice of the Peace – any mail-in or provisional ballots have the better chance at effecting the outcome of the Commissioner.

In the Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace race, Mitchell Jacobson finished with 198 votes Tuesday night to Dustin Larremore’s 137.
