The Brownwood Police Department recently issued the following press release:
On Thursday, May 23, 2024, the Brownwood Police Department, Coleman Police Department, Early Police Department, and the Brown County Sheriff’s Office conducted a joint narcotics investigation. During the investigation, a traffic stop was conducted in the 11000 block of US Highway 183 North in Brown County, Texas.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 44-year-old Jeremy John Howell, and the front right passenger was identified as 51-year-old Tonya Lee Mason Howell, both of Brownwood. A communications check confirmed an outstanding warrant for both of their arrests.
While performing the roadside investigation, a K-9 was deployed around the vehicle and the K-9 alerted to the presence of illegal contraband. Following this, probable cause was developed to conduct a search of the vehicle.
During the search, approximately 1 kilogram, over 2 pounds, of suspected methamphetamine was found in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. In addition to this, law enforcement officials seized approximately 11 grams of suspected cocaine from Jeremy Howell. A quantity of a substance believed to be dimethyltryptamine (DMT) was also seized.
At the conclusion of the investigation, both suspects were arrested and charged with the manufacture / delivery of a controlled substance, Penalty Group 1 (Methamphetamine) in the amount of greater than or equal to 400 grams. Jeremy Howell was also charged with the manufacture / delivery of a controlled substance, Penalty Group 1 (Cocaine) in the amount of greater than or equal to four (4) grams but less than two hundred (200) grams. Tonya Howell and Jeremy Howell were each served with their outstanding warrants of arrest which were sealed indictments for narcotics delivery.
