Rising Star Wildcat Colt Lawrence captured the Class A boys singles tennis state championship at the Blossom Center in San Antonio this past Friday.

Lawrence first defeated Brodie Weathers of White Deer (6-2, 6-2) in the quarterfinals Thursday, followed by win over Hyzaiah Gonzalez of Nueces Canyon (6-3, 6-4) to reach the final.

In the state championship match on Friday, Lawrence knocked off John Arnim of Austwell-Tivoli (6-1, 6-2) to secure the gold medal.
