Obviously this is not Mother’s Day but it’s close enough to where it’s easy for you to understand that this is my “Mother’s Day Show”. About every two or three years I say something about my mother or some mother that’s impressed me or whatever. But today, I’m just going to mention all of the mother’s who’ve had such an unbelievable impact on my life.
The first one I’m going to mention is my grandmother. She is really the only grandmother I ever knew and one of the most Godly women I’ve ever known in my life. One of her kids turned out to by my mother and she was a mom who was bound and determined that her kids were going to be exposed to church. She never had one rebel like I did but she drug me to church until she couldn’t any more. The impact she had on my life I’ll never forget. Then there is my sister, Carole, who thought she was my mom. What a great example of being an overcomer, having overcome polio, becoming an RN, and a single mother raising four kids to be Godly and productive adults. This year she will be spending her first Mother’s Day in Heaven. Also, Christina, my brother Ralph’s wife who is such a blessing. They also have kids and grandkids that brighten their life.
Then there is my wife. My wife and I have been married I guess, what forty years or something like that and together even longer. She’s the biggest difference I’ve ever had in my life. I’m not going to tell you that I wouldn’t be a Christian without her, but she spent ten years of our lives literally on her face before God praying for me. Literally ten years until I finally accepted Christ. The battle wasn’t over because it was a struggle – I’m talking about for her. But, anything that I do today in a positive way is simply because of her.
I’ve had a lot of other moms that have come along. I was married twice before. I had a daughter with one and a son with the other. I can tell you for a fact that that daughter gave us two great grandkids. Her daughter, one of those grandkids, Bailey and her husband are now the parents of three and raising them to know the Lord.
The grandson has yet to marry but has spent his life making the difference in the lives of young people as a camp counselor and high school teacher. We have two other grandsons who are wonderful young men, thanks to their mom, Kim. My son, Christian, married a wonderful young lady, Hollie, and they have two boys. Both are young men extremely involved in their church along with their parents and they make me very proud.
Linda has two great kids in Dena and Lance. Dena is married to a great guy and they have three daughters and all of them are Christians. Her son, Lance and his wife Kyla, both blessed to be raised in church, have a couple of kids. Kambrey and her husband have two young children and are being brought up in church. Their son – his name is Cal. He’s not married yet but he is already a man of God and if I’ve left somebody out I’ll let my wife fill in the blanks.
My wife is so special to me. Special for a lot of reasons, but the main reason is very simply this, she takes care of me. All of the stuff that she does for me I’d have to write a book to explain it, but she is so special to me. If you ever hear me do a radio show it’s because she put it together for me. If you ever hear me preach a sermon, because of my intentional tremor I can’t even write anymore much less put something together, so she puts it all together. She is my motor. She is what makes me go. Without her and the Lord, I could do nothing.
So, for Linda and all the others who sacrifice like her, I say Happy Mother’s Day.
Until next time, so long everybody.
