Brownwood High School graduate Matt McCrane on Sunday converted field goals of 54 and 58 yards in the D.C. Defenders’ 18-12 home victory over the San Antonio Brahmas in UFL action.
McCrane missed a 56-yard attempt in the first quarter, but answered in the third and fourth periods as the Defenders improved to 3-3 on the season. The 58-yarder equaled McCrane’s career long, which occurred earlier this season in a 29-28 victory at Arlington on April 13.
McCrane continues to lead the UFL in successful field goals with 12 in 14 attempts. His 58-yarder is the second-longest in the league this year and his 86 percent success rate ranks third.
The Defenders are currently in third place in the XFL Conference as they prepare to host the Michigan Panthers at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 12.
