In 11th place after tallying a 319 Monday, the Lions followed a 314 Tuesday for a 633 composite score, which left them behind state champion Bridgeport (589), runner-up Wimberley (607), third-place Andrews (611), fourth-place Bullard (613), fifth-place Fredericksburg (618), sixth-place Mabank (623) and seventh-place Livingston (626).
Hudson Reagan recorded the low score for Brownwood as he answered an opening 81 Monday with a closing 74 Tuesday for a 155 total, good for a tie for 28th place. Caleb Modawell added a 158 as he posted consecutive rounds of 79, while Sir Bubba Jones contributed a 159 with a 81 Monday and a 78 Tuesday. Cobe Walker notched a 161 total as he started with a 78 and ended with an 83, while Peyton Sharp chipped in a 170 with back-to-back rounds of 85.
Wimberley’s Jaxon Donaldson captured the individual gold medal with a two-day total of 136 behind consecutive rounds of 68, followed by silver medalist Zach Kehoe of Bridgeport with a 144, and bronze medalist Konner Iglehart of Monahans (145), who won a six-player playoff on the first extra hole.
The Lions reached the UIL Class 4A boys golf state tournament for the second consecutive year, as in 2023 they finished sixth with a 621 team score at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland. Brownwood placed third in the Region I-4A tournament at Shadow Hills Golf Course in Lubbock both years to qualify for a state, a feat that had not been accomplished by the program in over 30 years.
