The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Monday morning:
On Sunday, April 28 at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 300 block of Bluffview Drive regarding a report of a shooting. Several 911 callers reported a large group of people fighting and shooting at one another.
Brownwood Police officers were assisted by officers with the Early Police Department as well as the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.
As officers arrived in the area, gunshots could be heard, and people were seen running throughout the complex. As time progressed, officers were able to secure the scene and begin speaking with witnesses, victims, and suspects. More than a dozen citizens were identified and interviewed regarding the matter.
Officers were able to identify two groups of aggressors and an approximate location where the shots were being fired. Several shell casings were also located on the ground and bullet holes were found on vehicles. No citizen was shot or injured during this incident.
Statements were gathered and evidence was collected, and the investigation remains ongoing. Arrests are expected.
