KINGSLAND – Making their second consecutive appearance at the UIL Class 4A boys golf state tournament, the Brownwood Lions labored through an off outing by their standards Monday as they finished with a 320 team score at Legends Golf Course.
Heading into Tuesday’s final round at state, the Lions find themselves in 11th place overall, with Bridgeport leading the way with a 291 team score followed by second-place Livingston with a 294 and third-place Andrews with a 295.
Cobe Walker led Brownwood on Monday with a round of 78 followed by Caleb Modawell with an 80, Sir Bubba Jones and Hudson Reagan with 81s and Peyton Sharp with an 85.
Individually, eight golfers finished under par including midway point co-leaders Jaxon Donaldson of Wimberley and Konner Iglehart of Monahans, who both fired 68s Monday.
At the state preview tournament at Legends earlier this spring, the Lions finished fifth as a team with a 626 composite score as they opened with a 296 and closed with a 330.
