The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT)’s contractor will begin the annual
seal coat operation Tuesday, April 30, 2024, on SH 279 in Brown County. The purpose of the project is to extend the life of the road surface by coating it with a thin layer of asphalt and rock.
Work this week will begin on SH 279 (in Brown County) at the Pecan Bayou to the Callahan County line and will last approximately a day and a half before moving onto the next sections listed below:
- US 84: (Brown County) From Turtle Creek Drive to 1.32 miles west of FM 2126
- FM 2126: (Brown County) From US 84 to FM 45
- US 377: (McCulloch County) From the Brown County Line to 1.2 miles south of FM 1028
- US 84: (Mills County) From CR 332 (near Center City) to the Hamilton County Line
This project is a moving operation with various lane closures. Motorists are asked to drive with caution in these locations, watch for crews and equipment, avoid distractions, and obey all road signs. Please observe the speed limit in and near the work zone for the safety of workers and motorists.
