BANGS – The Bangs Dragons moved into sole possession of first place atop the District 7-2A baseball standings with a 14-3 home victory over the Winters Blizzards Tuesday night.
Bangs (15-8, 9-2) scored a single run in the first inning but added 10 in the second and coasted to the finish.
The Dragons recorded nine hits, drew eight walks and Winters (7-12, 3-9) committed five errors. Zack Ferguson led the charge with three hits and three RBIs trailed by Conner Bible with two hits, Hunter Crowell with a hit and two RBIs, Hunter Newton and Brayden Gatlin each with a hit and an RBI, Skylar Minshew with one hit, and Brody Newton with one RBI.
On the mound for Bangs, Kade Minshew, Hunter Newton and Ferguson combined to give up two earned runs on three hits with eight strikeouts and no walks.
The Dragons will visit Coleman (15-7-1, 8-3) at 4 p.m. Thursday with a chance to secure the 7-2A championship outright.

Early Longhorns 6, Eastland 5
EASTLAND – The Early Longhorns erased a three-run deficit to chalk up a 6-5 road victory over District 8-3A rival Eastland Tuesday night.
Early (7-17-1, 4-9) trailed Eastland (6-18-1, 3-10) by a 4-1 count after three innings and 5-2 through four frames, but the Longhorns knotted the score at 5 in the top of the fifth and scored the winning run in the sixth inning.
The Longhorns mustered just three hits but drew five walks and were aided by three Eastland errors. Ki Houston doubled and singled, Ethan Pallette added a hit and an RBI, and Jordan Campos and Kamden Gamblin were also credited with RBIs.
On the mound, Pallette and Landen Brandstetter combined to surrender two earned runs on five hits with nine strikeouts and five walks. The Longhorn defense committed five errors.
Early concludes its 2024 campaign at home at 7 p.m. Friday against Dublin.

Gorman 5, May Tigers 2
GORMAN – The May Tigers were dealt a 5-2 setback by the Gorman Panthers in District 7-1A baseball action Tuesday, falling to 7-2 overall and 3-1 in league play.
May gave up a single run to Gorman (5-11, 2-4) in the first inning, two in the fourth inning, and one run apiece in the fifth and sixth frames. The Tigers scored their runs in the fifth and seventh innings.
The Tigers finished with 10 hits – three from Ben Harrell, two each by Kaden Watkins and Hunter Seider, and one apiece from Cayson Dail, Lane Goodson and Jackson Lusk. Watkins was credited with May’s lone RBI.
On the mound, Hagan Hester and Goodson combined to allow five earned runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts and five walks.
