The Brownwood Fire Department issued the following press release Friday morning:
At 2:34 p.m. Thursday, April 11, the Brownwood Fire Department was called to 1911 Coggin in Brownwood for a structure fire. Upon arrival, crews were presented with a large amount of fire coming from the garage. Crews were able to control the fire quickly. The fire building and a 2003 Dodge pickup truck sustained a large amount of fire damage. The fire was unintentional in nature and was caused by a small refrigerator in the garage. No damage to the main residence and no occupants or fire personnel suffered any injuries.
Responding units included Chief 9, Chief 93, Rescue 9, Engine 9, and Engine 92 with assistance from Lifeguard EMS, the Early Fire Department, Brownwood Police Department, and Brownwood Development and Code Department.
The fire was under control in 11 minutes and units were on the scene 1 hour and 16 minutes.
