DIAMOND ROUNDUP: Bangs baseball completes district sweep of Goldthwaite

BANGS – The Bangs Dragons completed a District 7-2A baseball sweep of the Goldthwaite Eagles with a 12-3 home victory Friday night.

The Dragons (12-7, 6-1) led 2-0 after one inning, 6-2 after two frames, added five runs in the third and scored once more in the fifth.

Bangs registered nine hits, drew four walks and were aided by seven Goldthwaite errors.

Kenny Cole led the charge with three hits and three RBIs for Bangs trailed by Hunter Crowell with two hits and a pair of RBIs, Conner Bible with two hits and one RBI, Hunter Newton with a hit and an RBI, and Brayden Gatlin with a base hit.

On the mound, Skylar Minshew, Zack Ferguson and Kade Minshew teamed up to allow just one earned run on one hit with 13 strikeouts and two walks. The Dragon defense committed a pair of errors.

Brock 13, Early Lady Horns 2

EARLY – The Early Lady Horns slipped to 3-7 in District 8-3A softball action and 6-17 for the season with a 13-2 home loss to Brock Friday.

The Lady Horns trailed 3-1 after one inning, 4-1 after three, 6-1 after four, and 10-1 heading into the seventh inning.

Early mustered just two hits by Aleeya McCombs, who picked up an RBI, and Jamie Vassar.

In the circle, Leslee Beard yielded eight earned runs on 15 hits four walks and the Lady Horn defense committed nine errors behind her.

Brock 13, Early Longhorns 0

EARLY – The Early Longhorns’ two-game District 8-3A win streak was snapped by Brock, 13-0, Friday night.

The Longhorns (5-14-1, 2-6) failed to generate a hit and drew three walks – one each by Jordan Campos, Alex Perez and Weston Barton.

Brock scored three runs in the first inning, eight in the second, two more in the third.

Early pitchers Kamden Gamblin and Eli Pallette combined to give up 13 earned runs on 12 hits with five strikeouts and seven walks in five innings.
