Rosanne K. “Rose” Woodward passed away in Brownwood, Texas on March 31, 2024 at the age of 73 after a brave battle with cancer. Rose was born in Duluth, Minnesota on November 11, 1950, to parents Betty and Clarence Bloomquist. She moved to Needville, Texas in the 1970s with her sons, Toby and Todd, where she was a nurse at the Outlar and Blair Clinic in Wharton, Texas. This is where she met her husband Hal Woodward, the love of her life and best friend for the next 43 years until her death.

After their honeymoon in Hawaii, Rose and Hal moved the family to Brownwood in 1981 and opened Pediatrics of Brownwood, where Rose kept the office running by managing the daily operations and staff. She was a strong but kind boss who was loved by her staff and she became lifelong friends with many of the nurses who worked there over the years.

There were many family trips over the years that were always an adventure, whether it was a vacation to the beaches of Bermuda or the Bahamas, the mountains of Colorado, or back home to Duluth to visit her family. Her bond with her family remained strong throughout her life, and she would frequently visit her mother Betty, sister Lenore, brothers Darrell and Roger, nieces Andrea, Carrie, and Laura, and nephews Drew and Chris.

Rose loved animals, and owned numerous cats and dogs during her life, and treated each and every one like a valuable member of the family. There were many times that Rose came home with a stray dog that she found on the side of the road and that she would nurse back to health.

Rose had four grandchildren that she adored, and she was affectionately known by them as “Moo Moo”. Each summer they would travel to Brownwood for Camp Moo Moo, which involved fun and adventures at her house, the clinic, and around town.

Rose and Hal were active members of the Brownwood community for decades, with Rose volunteering on the Child Welfare Board in Brownwood where she would help organize numerous events and galas to raise money for the charity.

We couldn’t have asked for a better mom, grandparent, sibling, and aunt, and will miss Rose every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her. Rose was preceded in death by her son Todd Madsen, dad Clarence Bloomquist, brothers Darrell and Roger Bloomquist, and nephew Drew Bloomquist, and is survived by her husband Hal, son Toby Madsen and his partner Tracie Ledbetter and her son Jacob Ledbetter, mom Betty Bloomquist, stepsons Blair and Lee Woodward, daughter in laws Amanda Woodward and Patricia Woodward, sister Lenore Ross, nieces Andrea, Carrie, and Laura, and nephew Chris, and grandchildren Jack, Georgia, Miguel and Olivia.

Rose will be laid to rest at Cedar Point Cemetery in Brownwood, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Corinne T. Smith Animal Center located at 3016 Milam Dr, Brownwood, TX 76801 or the Latch Key Program located at 2411 Coggin Avenue, Brownwood, Texas 76801.

Condolences, memories and tributes can be offered to the Woodward family online at heartlandfuneralhome.com
