The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Friday afternoon:
On Wednesday, April 3, 2024, officers with the Brownwood Police Department responded to the office of an apartment complex in the 2000 block of Slayden St. regarding a report of a burglary. When the officers arrived, they learned that the apartment office had been burglarized the previous night.
Evidence at the scene provided information on the suspect and on Thursday, April 4, 2024, detectives with the Brownwood Police Department were able to secure an arrest warrant for Brownwood resident, 26-year-old Nicholas Trey Mayon. The warrant was for Burglary of a Building.
At approximately 12:30 p.m., Mayon was observed entering the Hop-In Convenience Store on Coggin Ave. Mayon was ultimately positively identified and arrested for the warrant.
Investigations of recent burglaries in this area remain ongoing and Mayon has not been ruled out as a suspect.
It’s important to acknowledge the excellent teamwork between the detectives, witnesses and the property owner who has invested in quality security equipment. The work from citizens and property owners are always appreciated as we work these type investigations.
