Jane Norma Souza 72, passed away Thursday, March 28th, 2024 in Brownwood, TX. A Celebration of Life will be held for Jane on Saturday, April 6 at 2:00 pm at Brownwood Retirement Village located at 318 Bluffview Dr. in Brownwood, Texas.
Jane Souza was born in Ft. Benning, Georgia, on October 3, 1951, to Capt. Leon and Mrs. Norma Forney. Jane grew up in Salinas California where she lived for many years. She graduated from North Salinas High School, where she was a cheerleader and participated in the Drama Program. After High School, Jane got her Associates of Arts degree at Hartnell Community College.
Jane worked for AT&T for over 30 years. She married John Souza and they moved to Paradise, CA where they lived for many years. After John passed away Jane moved to Santa Rosa and continued her career with AT&T until she retired and moved to Texas.
Jan was an enormously talented seamstress. She could look at something, jot down a few things, and then go home and make it!! Her specialty was making Raggedy Ann Dolls. Everyone she knew over the years got one of her dolls. Jane also was a quilter creating beautiful designs in her work.
Jane was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1996 but kept on working. April 10th would have been her 28th cancer birthday. She worked with cancer support groups after she conquered her own disease. Despite all of life’s challenges, Jane was always willing to help anyone, meet new people, and try new adventures!
Jane Souza was preceded in death by her husband John, her mother and dad Leon and Norma Forney, and her daughter Holly McLain.
Jane is survived by her sister and sister’s husband Kay and Andy Allen of Brownwood, TX, brother Paul Forney and wife Amy of Jacksonville, NC, Joshua McLain of Brownwood, TX, and Mathew McLain of Novato, CA.
