Area high school students can now apply for Howard Payne University’s second annual Health Science Enrichment Workshop (HSEW), scheduled for June 19-21. The workshop is designed to help prepare juniors and seniors who are interested in health professions while showcasing health-related programs at HPU. The event is sponsored by the Joint Admission Medical Program and will take place on the HPU campus with visits to Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood.
“We are excited to partner again with Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood for our second annual Health Science Enrichment Workshop,” shared Dr. Laci Sutton, dean of HPU’s School of Nursing and co-director of HSEW. “This year’s workshop will also feature more time with each student’s identified healthcare professional.”
The workshop is organized by HPU’s School of Nursing and School of Science and Mathematics and will give students the chance to engage in science lab activities and clinical skills exercises. Each student will also get to shadow a healthcare professional who works in the student’s area of interest and attend a roundtable discussion.
The deadline for application is May 1 and the workshop fee is $100, but some scholarships are available through the application process. Students must be 16 or older to apply. For more information or to apply, students can visit the HPU website: www.hputx.edu/hsew.
