CHRISTOVAL – The reigning District 6-2A softball champion Bangs Lady Dragons improved to 3-0 in league play and 10-8 on the season with an 18-8 road win over Christoval Tuesday.
Bangs led 5-0 after one inning and 8-1 heading to the bottom of the fourth, where Christoval scored six times to trim the deficit to 8-7. The Lady Dragons answered with six runs on their own in the top of the fifth for a 14-7 lead and added two more in the sixth and seventh innings.
The Lady Dragons finished with 21 hits including nine for extra bases as Abby Wolf and Julianna Ethridge both homered and tripled. Neeley Bradley added a pair of doubles and Emily Baker, Justice Baker and Jordan Valdez contributed doubles as well.
Bradley and Emily Baker’s four hits apiece were a team-best trailed by three from Jadyn Miller, and two each from Wolf, Ethridge, Valdez and Justice Baker. Cheyenne Rush and Mattisyn Taylor added singles to the cause.
Wolf’s four RBIs served as a team-high along with three from Ethridge, two each from Bradley, Valdez and Emily Baker, and one apiece by Rush and Justice Baker.
In the circle, Wolf went the distance and yielded five earned runs on 12 hits with four strikeouts. The Bangs defense committed three errors behind her.

Early Lady Horns 18, Millsap 8
EARLY – The Early Lady Horns improved to 2-3 in District 8-3A softball action and 5-13 for the season with an 18-8 home win over Millsap Tuesday.
Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the second, Early scored four times to grab a 5-2 lead, which grew to 14-2 in the bottom of the third inning. The Lady Horns’ advantage stood at 15-5 through four innings, 15-7 after five, and Early ended the game in the bottom of the sixth.
The Lady Horns generated 16 hits, including seven for extra bases. Marissa Reedy homered, tripled, singled and drove in five RBIs to spark the offense. Stoney Laughlin finished with two doubles, a single and three RBIs; Rylee Tupin doubled once, singled twice and knocked in three runs; and Aubrey Greaves tallied three singles and three RBIs. Aleeya McCombs finished with two hits, including a double, and an RBI, while Jamie Vassar tripled and plated two runs. Gabby Leal recorded a single as well.
In the circle, Sydney Greaves worked all six innings and yielded six earned runs on six hits with a pair of strikeouts and five walks. The Early defense committed four errors.

Millsap 5, Early Longhorns 2
EARLY – The Early Longhorns are still seeking their first District 8-3A baseball victory following Tuesday’s 5-2 home loss to Millsap.
The Longhorns (3-11-1, 0-3) finished with just two hits – both by Ethan Pallette – but drew five walks and were aided by three Millsap errors.
On the mound, Weston Barton and Landen Brandstetter teamed up to yield four earned runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts and five walks. The Longhorns defense committed four errors.

Crawford 7, Bangs Dragons 5
CRAWFORD – The Bangs Dragons slipped to 8-7 on the season with a 7-5 non-district road loss at the Class 2A No. 22 Crawford Pirates Tuesday night.
The Dragons led 1-0 after one inning before Crawford (10-1) grabbed a 4-1 lead in the third. The Pirates stretched the advantage to 6-1 in the fifth before Bangs crept within 6-5 in the top of the sixth. Crawford added an insurance run in its last at-bat.
Bangs was limited to three hits – a double by Skylar Minshew and singles by Zack Ferguson and Brayden Gatlin – but drew five walks and was aided by two Crawford errors.
On the mound, Kenny Cole, Hunter Newton, Kade Minshew, Conner Bible and Ferguson combined to surrender four earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts and seven walks. The Bangs defense committed a pair of miscues in the field.
