The Brownwood Fire Department issued the following press release Thursday morning:
The Brownwood Fire Department was called to 1625 Brady at 5:02 a.m. Thursday, March 7 for the report of a structure fire. Upon arrival there was heavy smoke showing from the attic. The main body of the fire was knocked down with an aggressive exterior fire attack using pre-connected hose lines. Once the main body of the fire was extinguished an interior search was conducted finding no occupants inside. Firefighters ventilated the attic and completed the extinguishment of the fire. Overhaul was performed throughout the structure checking for fire extension. Fire cause was undetermined. Two occupants were displaced with the assistance of the Red Cross. There were no reported injuries. The structure had extensive fire damage and was turned over the Brownwood Planning and Development for follow up.
Chief 9, Chief 92, Chief 93, Truck 9, Engine 9, Rescue 9 and Engine 92 responded with assistance from the Early Fire Department, Lifeguard EMS, Brownwood Police, and Brownwood Planning and Development.
The fire was under control in 40 minutes and units were on scene for 3 hours and 6 minutes. The first caused an estimated $75,000 worth of damage.
