STEPHENVILLE – The Brownwood Lady Lions suffered a second consecutive District 5-4A soccer loss with a 6-1 defeat at the hands of Stephenville Tuesday night.
The only goal for Brownwood, which slipped to 12-8-1 overall and 4-6 in league competition, came from Mariah Young off a corner kick from Braycee Lee.
Based on Tuesday night’s district results, the Lady Lions are locked into the No. 4 playoff seed from District 5-4A and will face either Godley or Waxahachie Life in the bi-district round of the playoffs.
Meanwhile, the Brownwood Lions’ postseason chances took a blow with a 4-0 loss at the hands of District 5-4A co-leader Stephenville.
The Lions are now 5-10-1 overall and 3-7 in league play with just two outings remaining. Brownwood trails Lampasas by 1.5 games for the fourth and final playoff seed.
The Lady Lions and Lions will next host Gatesville in another district doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. Friday.
