The Brownwood Fire Department issued the following press release Friday morning:
At 8:36 pm, the Brownwood Fire Department was called to 3101 SF Austin, Canidae in Brownwood for a structure fire. Upon arrival, crews were presented with heavy smoke that was coming from the roof. A offensive fire attack was made with using the city’s ladder truck, and with the use of hand lines inside the structure. The fire was stopped, preventing any major damage to the surrounding buildings. The fire was contained to the equipment involved, the equipment sustained heavy damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but has been determined to be unintentional in nature.
Chief 9, Chief 93,Truck 9, Engine 9, Engine 92, and Rescue 9 responded along with the Early Fire Department, Lifeguard EMS, Atmos Energy, Brownwood Police and the County Fire Marshal.
It took an hour to get the fire under control and crews were on scene for 3 hours, 48 minutes.
The estimate of the damage is $700,000.
