EARLY – The Early Longhorns rolled to an 11-1 victory over Olney and followed with an 11-0 loss to Coleman Thursday in their first two games of the Brown County Baseball Tournament.
Against Olney, the Longhorns struck for five runs in the bottom of the first inning and six more in the fourth.
The 11-hit attack for Early featured two each from Jordan Campos, Ethan Pallette, Weston Barton, and Landen Brandstetter, along with one apiece from Rohyn Price, Alex Perez and Eli Pallette. Brandstetter drove in three runs while Ethan Pallette, Barton and Perez recorded two RBIs apiece and Price finished with one.
Kamden Gamblin tossed all four innings on the mound and allowed one run on a hit with five strikeouts and a walk.
In the loss to Coleman, Early gave up five runs in the first inning, one in the second, four in the third and one more in the fourth.
The Longhorns tallied just two hits – by Rowan McDermed and Eli Pallette.
Barton and Brandstetter teamed up to yield nine earned runs on nine hits with eight strikeouts and five walks.
Early (1-1) hosts Tolar at 4:30 p.m. Friday and welcomes Miles at 11:30 a.m. Saturday to conclude the tournament.
