EASTLAND – The Early Longhorns emerged with a 51-48 road victory over Eastland Friday night to move to 15-12 overall and 6-7 in District 8-3A action with one game remaining at home against Dublin Tuesday.
Tied at 8 after one quarter, Early led 24-17 at halftime and 38-29 heading into the fourth period.
Andrew Caten led a balanced attack with 12 points followed by 11 each from Kamden Gamblin and Dalton Adams, 10 from Andrew Reedy, six from Rohyn Price and one point from Weston Barton.
With Comanche’s 41-28 loss to Peaster, the Longhorns and Indians (15-14, 6-7) are tied for fourth place and the final playoff berth from 8-3A. Comanche faces Millsap Tuesday, and if the Longhorns and Indians finished tied in the final standings, the Longhorns would be the odd team out for the playoffs having dropped both games to Comanche.
