The Brownwood Lions and Lady Lions have faced Glen Rose, Graham, Mineral Wells and Stephenville in District 6-4A non-football and non-soccer sports for the past two school years and that will continue into 2024-25 and 2025-26 with one exception – Brock is joining the fray.
The UIL released its biennial realignment Thursday morning and while the football district is completely revamped for Brownwood, very little changed in the other sports. But the addition of Brock will make the road to the postseason for the remaining sports even more challenging.
Brownwood High School girls athletic coordinator Heather Hohertz said of the news, “I don’t really have any expectations because my predictions are usually not close. I just wait until the day of to find out the results, but it will be dogfight every night in our district. Brock is a very tradition rich in all sports.”
Brock has won 11 Class 3A state titles overall in basketball – eight for the girls in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 and three for the boys in 2002, 2003, and 2015. Brock has won a Class 3A state championship in every sport offered – baseball, softball, volleyball, cross country, track, golf, and tennis.
