The Brownwood Fire Department issued the following press release Saturday:
The Brownwood Fire Department was called for a report of a structure fire at 4:47 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19 to the 200 block of Vine. Upon arrival there were visible flames showing from the rear of the structure extending into the attic. The main body of the fire was knocked down quickly and there was fire damage throughout the structure. Three occupants was displaced due to the fire damage sustained. Firefighters ventilated the smoke from the structure and performed overhaul checking for fire extension. The fire was caused by a heat lamp, was accidental in nature and started on the exterior of the building. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported. As a reminder to our residents that this is the second heat lamp fire in the city within the last week. Please check your heating equiptment to make sure it is safe.
Chief 9, Chief 93, Truck 9, Rescue 9, Engine 9, and Engine 92 all responded as did the Brownwood police, Early Fire Department, Red Cross, Brownwood Utility Department, Atmos and Oncor.
Units were on scene 2 hours and 31 minutes as it took 22 minutes to extinguish the fire, which caused an estimated $175,000 worth of damage.
