Sandrea Jean Sikes, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, peacefully passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024, at Coleman County Medical Center. She was born on March 27, 1945, in McCamey, Texas, to her late parents William Frankin Stephens and Merle Churchill Stephens.
Sandra’s talent and passion for cooking led her to become a professional cook and baker. Her dedication and skill in the kitchen earned her the respect and admiration of those she worked with. Sandra cooked for the crew in remote locations on the North Slope.
Outside of her career, Sandra found joy in simple pleasures. She loved reading and could often be found engrossed in a delightful book. She also enjoyed solving puzzles and spending time fishing, appreciating the tranquility of nature. Most of all, Sandra cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren, creating precious memories that will forever be treasured by her family.
Sandra was a dedicated member of Valera Baptist Church, where her strong faith provided her with comfort, guidance, and sense of community. She was known for her kindness, generosity, and willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Sandra is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert Sikes.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Gay Gordon and husband Quannah; devoted son, Guy Sikes; cherished grandchildren, Michael Stephenson and wife Lindsey, William Robert Sikes and wife Brittany, Donald Rogers and wife Adrienne, Zachary Sikes, Frank Sikes and wife Mindy, and Gary Sikes and partner Sammy; 16 great-grandchildren; treasured sisters, Linda Sue Stephens, Elaine Bachelor, and Mary Silver; her beloved caregivers, Brenda Sikes and nephew James Sikes; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
The family will host a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman. Family and friends are invited to a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Valera Baptist Church with Rev. Ralph Howell officiating. Interment will follow in the Valera Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home.
