BURNET – The Brownwood Lady Lions finished the Burnet soccer tournament with a third consecutive victory and the consolation championship, defeating Georgetown Gateway, 3-1, Saturday afternoon.
“It was a great weekend for the Lady Lions in Burnet,” said Lady Lions head coach Alexis Walker. “Fighting through injuries, windy days, and cold temperatures, these girls made no excuses and found a way to be successful. It didn’t matter what 11 girls were on the field, they played 100% through it all. I couldn’t be more proud of these ladies and their fight through the adversity.”
Scoring for Brownwood in the tournament finale were Adryanna Huerta with an assist from Molly Oliver, Adrianna Allen with an assist by Braycee Lee, and Jacklyn Lewis with an assist from Mariah Young.
The Lady Lions’ (7-2) Tuesday home game against Decatur has been cancelled the next action is slated for 5:30 p.m. Friday at Taylor.
