Lady Lions rally past Marble Falls, 46-44, in pre-district finale

Hannah Deen (5) finished with a team-high 14 points for Brownwood (16-8), which visits No. 1 Glen Rose (21-2) Friday in the District 6-4A opener for both teams.

MARBLE FALLS – Trailing after each of the first three quarters, the Brownwood Lady Lions rallied in the fourth period for their fifth victory in the last seven outings, 46-44 at Marble Falls Tuesday afternoon.

Brownwood (16-8) fell behind Marble Falls by a 13-8 count after one quarter, was down 22-18 at halftime and crept within 32-31 heading into the fourth period, where the Lady Lions owned a 15-12 scoring advantage.

The Lady Lions shot 34 percent (17 of 50) from the floor overall, just 11 percent (2 of 18) from three-point land, and 52 percent (10 of 19) at the free throw line. Brownwood committed just 13 turnovers, pulled down 22 rebounds and recorded 19 steals.

Hannah Deen led the charge for Brownwood with 14 points followed by 12 from Trinity Roberts, six from Icess Hall, four from Miranda Northcutt and Kate Tindol, and three points apiece from Kimber Green and Adyson Neel.

Brownwood, which picked up its 299th victory under head coach Heather Hohertz, opens District 6-4A action at 5:45 p.m. Friday at No. 1 Glen Rose (21-2), which is coming off a state tournament appearance.
