The Welcome W. Chandler chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas invites everyone in the Brownwood area to volunteer this Saturday for Wreaths Across America Day.
At 10 a.m. in Greenleaf Cemetery Saturday, the Daughters will lead volunteers in honoring the Brown County Texas heroes who have served our country to preserve our freedom.
National Wreaths Across America Day is a free, non-political event that honors and remembers our nation’s veterans who are laid to rest in more than 3,700 participating locations nationwide. The Daughters are proud to bring to Brownwood the Wreaths Across America mission to Remember the fallen, Honor those who serve, and Teach the next generation the value of freedom.
After all, as Pierre Claeyssens said, “To be killed in war is not the worst that can happen. To be lost is not the worst that can happen… to be forgotten is the worst.”
