Brownwood ISD is excited to announce a major upgrade to the auditorium at Coggin Elementary School. The project is part of the recently passed 2023 Bond, and BISD Bond Program Manager Tammy Gray shared insights into the effort, highlighting the commitment to comfort and accessibility.
“We’ve worked closely with an auditorium seating company to design a new chair layout that will offer much more comfortable seating along with much-needed ADA upgrades to our Coggin Auditorium,” said Gray. “The project will remove all existing chairs and install 769 new seats along with 8 ADA spaces and companion seating. In addition, we will be upgrading the ADA access from the parking lot to the auditorium with a new ramp and increased ADA parking. Installation will occur over the upcoming Christmas holidays.”
The new seats have been carefully selected to ensure optimal comfort, durability, and aesthetic appeal, creating an inviting atmosphere for all visitors to Coggin Auditorium. One of the key features of the upgrade is the addition of 8 ADA spaces and companion seating, ensuring that individuals with mobility challenges have convenient and accessible seating options. In addition to the seating improvements, the new designated ADA parking spaces and ramp will enhance accessibility to provide a seamless experience for patrons with disabilities.
The installation of the upgrades is scheduled to take place over the upcoming holidays, minimizing disruption to regular school activities. This strategic timing ensures that the community can look forward to enjoying the enhanced Coggin Auditorium when school resumes after the break.
The district is excited about the positive impact this upgrade will have on the school community and is committed to providing quality facilities that reflect its dedication to excellence.
