Juanita Maldonado Wright, age 67, of Brownwood, passed away December 1, 2023, on her birthday with loved ones by her side.

Funeral Services for Juanita will be held Friday, December 8, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Slaymaker officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early, Texas. Visitation will be Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home in Brownwood, Texas.

Juanita was born to Inez and Julia (Nolasco Rodriguez) Maldonado on December 1, 1956, in Lamesa, Texas. The family moved to Brownwood, and she graduated from Brownwood High School and met the only love of her life, Steve Wright. They became mom and dad to Michael Wright on January 8, 1976. They later welcomed their daughter Bridget on August 16, 1977.

Juanita loved to volunteer at Toys for Tots, spend time with her grandkids, and before she became ill, she loved fishing, boating, and spending time with family. She also loved baking for everyone, even strangers. She was employed at several different places throughout her life including GTE, the Public Library, and eventually full-time at their business Steve’s Paint and Body Shop in Brownwood, Texas. Unfortunately, Juanita suffered some heartache in her life after losing her only son, Michael, at the age of 45 in 2019. She lost her grandson, Scout Fragua, at the age of 20 in 2020, and she lost her husband Steve in January of 2020. Although we lost Juanita on the day of her birthday, we know she’s celebrating a much more joyous eternity with the ones she lost including her leg and our Lord. Juanita was a mom, Mema, daughter, sister, and friend.

Juanita is survived by her daughter, Bridget Fragua, and Jeremy Hall, seven grandchildren, who called her Mema. Alyssa Wright, Michael Wright, Jr., Alya Wright, Krista Fragua, Hudson Hall, and Presley Hall. A great-grandchild, Mason. She was a beloved sister of, Josie Dean and husband Joe of Robert Lee, Texas, Carol Mares and husband Jaimie of Brownwood, Texas, Elsie Marino of Gatesville, Texas, Inez Maldonado, Rachel Pesina, Jessie Maldonado of Brownwood, Texas, Roy Maldonado, Ray and wife Shelly Maldonado of Brownwood, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She is preceded by her brother, Ricardo Maldonado (3 months old), her mother, Julia Rodirguez Nolasco Maldonado, her father, Inez Maldonaldo, son, Michael Wright, her husband, Steve Wright and sister-in-law, Lisa Maldonado, and grandson Scout Fragua.
