Kelly was born November 16, 1926 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Abner Luther and Ora Lee (Wooten) Reid. As a child, Kelly enjoyed his time at his parents’ dairy farm. He played football at Burkburnett high school, he came home to tell his parents he wanted to join the navy. During his time in the Navy, he had the honor of the distinction of both UDT (Underwater demolition team) and OSS (office of strategic services). Speaking to his character and integrity, even at an early age. After completing his time of service with an honorable discharge, he met his wife of 64 years, Helen. Together they built a life they loved. Including watching 4 generations of family members grow up. His favorite quote was “nothing stays the same” and as this may be true, his love for his family is an example of how some things never change. Kelly was a member of the Grosvenor Baptist church.
Kelly is survived by his grandson, Joseph Cook of Brownwood; granddaughter, Stacey Bishop of Brownwood; great granddaughters, Krista and husband Wade Hamer of Cisco, Tori Dyess and husband Josh Dyers of Early; great-great granddaughters, Tyleigh, Layla, Ronyn Dyess of Early, and Reagan Hamer of Cisco; great-great grandson, Bowen Dyess of Early; nephew, Don Wagner of Wichita Falls, Texas; and many church family, and friends.
