HAMILTON – After reeling off four straight victories to start the 2023-24 basketball campaign, the Brownwood Lady Lions tasted defeat for the first time Thursday night, falling to host Hamilton, 43-35, in tournament action.
Brownwood trailed 13-4 after one quarter, 23-11 at halftime and 34-23 through three periods. The Lady Lions shot 25 percent (14 of 55) from the floor, 8 percent (1 of 12) at the three-point arc, and 40 percent (6 of 15) at the free throw line. Brownwood also committed 23 turnovers to go along with 35 rebounds and 15 steals.
Freshman Trinity Roberts led the charge with a career-high 19 points trailed by Kimber Green and Hannah Deen with five each, and Icess Hall, Kate Tindol and Miranda Northcutt with two points apiece.

The Lady Lions will square off against McGregor at 12:30 p.m. Friday, then wrap up the tournament with a seeding game Saturday based on the final pool results.
