The Early Fire Department shared the following information late Tuesday night regarding the structure fire at 5950 U.S. Highway 183 North Tuesday afternoon:
At 12:38 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 7 the Early Fire Department was dispatched to 5950 U.S. Highway 183 for a House on Fire.
At 12:40 p.m. dispatch advised this is a working fire, so at this time Brownwood and May Fire Departments were requested for mutual aid.
At 12:42 p.m. the first truck arrived to find the structure well involved with heavy fire coming from 3 sides of the house and all occupants were accounted for. Early Fire requested tankers for a water supply from Zephyr and Winchell VFDs as well as Precincts 1 and 3.
The extreme fire conditions made it impossible to do an offensive fire attack (inside the Structure) as the roof was already sagging upon our arrival. So a defensive fire attack (outside the structure) was performed the entire time.
At 3:38 p.m. the fire was called out and a very extensive overhaul began which included heavy equipment from Precinct 3.
At 5:55 p.m. all units were clear and back in service. The house was a total loss. We did have 1 reported injury and 1 pet still unaccounted for at this time. The County Fire Marshal is investigating the Fire.
Early, Brownwood, May, Zephyr and Winchell Fire Departments, Lifeguard EMS, Early PD, Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Brown County Precinct 1 and 3, Brown County Fire Marshal, ONCOR Electric and the Red Cross all responded.
