The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Monday morning:
On Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, at approximately 2 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1700 block of Brady Ave. regarding a report of neighbors fighting.
When officers arrived, they met with the caller who reported that he had tenants in a trailer behind his home. These tenants were yelling and throwing things about which let the caller to believe that they were fighting.
The caller walked to the rear of the property to check on them and the male tenant, 46-year-old Faustino Ray Ortega, began yelling at the caller. As the caller left the area, Ortega followed him to his residence and pulled a knife out; attempting to instigate a fight with the caller. The caller reported Ortega threatening him with the knife as he continued approaching the caller’s residence.
Ortega left the residence but returned a short time later, looking for the female he was previously fighting with. When he was unable to locate the female, Ortega approached the caller’s home and began kicking and punching the caller’s door, demanding to see the female. The caller phoned the police department and Ortega was located a few blocks away.
Ortega was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault w/a Deadly Weapon.
