Howard Payne University New Braunfels recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the new location in the Veramendi community. The event hosted donors, New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce representatives, HPU students and officials, and other friends of the university. The university’s new facility is located at 2164 Oak Run Parkway, Suite 103, New Braunfels, TX 78132.
Dr. Cynthia Ferguson, assistant vice president for HPU’s New Braunfels Center, described the bright outlook presented by the new site.
“The Oak Run Parkway location presents HPU New Braunfels Center with a unique opportunity to broaden our program offerings, encompassing student and community engagement activities,” said Dr. Ferguson. “In addition to our graduate and undergraduate degrees, dual credit courses and tuition reimbursement collaborations through local businesses, we are eager to host community wellness classes and special interest group gatherings, designed to cater to the educational and social interests of the Central Texas community.”
Founded in 1889 in Brownwood, HPU opened the extension center in New Braunfels in 2012. Prior to the recent move, the HPU New Braunfels facility was located on Loop 337. Degree offerings in New Braunfels include business administration, Christian studies, criminal justice, general studies, management marketing, the Master of Business Administration and the Master of Education in Sport and Wellness Leadership. These academic programs are provided through online and in-person classes.
Program participants in the ceremony were Dr. Donnie Auvenshine, vice president for academic affairs; Dr. Ferguson; Dr. Cory Hines, HPU president; and Allison Humphries, chair of the board for the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Hines expressed his enthusiasm for what this facility means for the future of the New Braunfels Center.
“The opening of this facility marks a new chapter in HPU’s ongoing commitment to support the New Braunfels community,” said Dr. Hines. “We look ahead with eager anticipation to see all that God will do in the lives of students and community members through this space, and we’re thankful for His continued provision through our supporters and partners.”
Dr. Ferguson noted the community connections already being fostered by the new location.
“The warm reception from the residents of Veramendi has been readily evident,” she said. “Since our relocation, there has been a consistent stream of visitors from the Veramendi community, extending their warm welcomes. Many of our instructors and students have noted the vibrant energy and enhanced sense of community they feel at this location.”
